Our Founder

The principals of Little Lily Montessori School Mrs. Chen and her husband Mr. Chou founded the school in 1994. Mrs. Chen, who is fondly called Teacher Chen, is a name familiar to many parents in Neihu. She’d strived hard to create an exquisite and beautiful humanized environment, and continues to do so until now. She has dedicated herself to Montessori-based teaching and specifically non-paper-based learning of curriculum activities, emphasizing individualized learning and an active social environment for children. The classroom space is designed to master learning; for children to grow a balanced development as a whole in the concepts of IQ (concrete lead to abstract), EQ (mixed-age grouping as a miniature society), and CQ (a balance of freedom and discipline to generate creative thinking and problem solving).

Mrs. Chen, on the other hand, continues to study the temperament assessment of children and helps parents establish the concept of family upbringing through observation and daily communication. At the same time, Mrs. Chen also conducts interviews and consultations on children's emotional growth, parent-child relationships, and husband-wife relationships.

Mr. Chou and Mrs. Chen’s two sons, Jeffery and Shang, returned from their studies in the United States and Japan and joined Little Lily’s team in 2018. The second son, Shang, has completed the Montessori study for children 3-12 years old and had graduated with a Master's degree in Developmental Psychology at Columbia University in the city of New York, and is now working with the teachers to implement intervention to children’s behavior, and character development.

At Little Lily, we not only hope that children gain the ability to search and use information, think creatively and solve problems. We want our children to glow in their own uniqueness and therefore to understand and accept each other. We commit to the family education, parent-child communication, emphasizing humanities, arts, and character, and creating an environment for children where discipline and freedom coexist. Exams are not the standard for learning, and reading is not the only way to learn. We hope to encourage children not only to be able to lead in different situations, moreover, treasure human connection and have the ability to build strong relationships, and most importantly, to spread wisdom and love everywhere they go.
